This witness seminar was held on 21 July 2000 as part of the Epidemiology, Social Medicine and Public Health Conference, held at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) to celebrate the 90th birthday of Professor Jerry Morris.It was organised by the History Group (now the Centre for History in Public Health) and the Health Promotion Research Unit, at the LSHTM (now the Public & Environmental Health Research Unit (PEHRU). It was co-funded by the Wellcome Trust, LSHTM, the British Medical Journal and Mars UK.
The first section comprises relevant extracts from presentations made by Sir Michael Marmot and Sir Roger Bannister during other parts of the conference. The second section is the transcript of the witness seminar. The witness seminar was chaired by Professor James McEwen. The witnesses included: Professor Eva Alberman; Professor Peter Alberman; Dr Keith Ball; Dame Beulah Bewley; Dr June Crown; Dr Wilfred Harding; Dr Zarrina Kurtz; Professor Tom Meade; Dr Norman Noah; Dr Noel Olsen; Professor Hugh Tunstall-Pedoe and Professor David Simpson.
